I was a big fan of “My Dad is Amazing” that I had previously purchased for my 18mo daughter. I purchased both this and that book together as a present for my niece this past Christmas. I love the colors and the illustrations are really fun. Normally, I try to gift educational toys and books, however, I will continue to gift these two books in the future because I think they are truly wonderful and fun.

For Father's day I got the companion book to this, "My Dad Is Amazing!" and my son loveeeeeees it! He also has "Dada" by: Jimmy Fallon and his first word was indeed, DADA, thanks Jimmy... Well, I noticed that our book selection was lacking books about MAMA, so for Christmas my kiddo got this gem! I absolutely love these books, the artwork is fabulous and the writing is so cute! I recommend that you not only buy this one but also "My Dad is Amazing!". They are fun to read and look at.

So, I may have ordered this and directed my husband to have the kids give it to me for Mother's Day. No shame in tooting your own horn, right? The illustrations are absolutely delightful, full of color and fun, and I was so happy to see a narwhal on one of the pages! There is also great vocabulary building words, alliteration, and rhyming. A perfect board book.

AMAZING! Beautiful, Busy and eye catching pages for my toddler! Bright vivid and fun story line keeps my child entertained the whole story and wants to read both! There is so much to look at and draws there attention all over, so this isn’t a super quick read at first! We love this addition!!

This book is so stinking cute! We had a ton of daddy books for our little girl, but none about mom, so decided she needed this for her first birthday which was unicorn themed. It talks about how wonderful mom is! As the momma, I gotta say I love that! Lol

Adorable illustrations, I love reading this to my daughter each night. It's got an adorable modern look to it and is sturdy, yet soft, which is nice considering my 6 month old likes to clunk everything into her face :)

i don't know what it is about the illustrations and colors in this book and the dad book by the same author but my son LOVES them and prefers them to most of his other books.

This is an excellent book. I originally found it at Target around Mother’s Day, but have since ordered other copies to give as gifts. We are a two-mom family, and because this book only references “mom,” it is perfect for any child, whether they have a mom and a dad, or two moms. I love Sci-Fi books and I have read them for over 60 years. I have read thousands of Sci-Fi books. This book, written by Eric Nylund, is one of my favorites of all time. Just as a note, I don't play the Halo game so my review is only about the quality of the book.This story is absolutely full of action, aliens, military combat and of course the superhuman feats of the Spartan II warriors. This is a team of warriors that know no fear and each one can fight like a thousand other soldiers combined. Trained since the age of 6, genetically mutated and enhanced they have become the strongest military force in the galaxy. Coupled with a super smart Artificial Intelligence, AI named Cortana, they are unbeatable. Put them into their Mjolnir Assault Armor and they are almost virtually invincible.This book cames after the story about The Flood. Eric Nylund is the best author to write any of the Halo books. His books are by far the best stories and they are just superb Sci-Fi. I won't ruin the plot of the book as to many other reviews have already done that but if you love Halo stories this is one of the books you must read. I liked the book so much I purchased the Kindle version, then the large paperback version for my library and then the audio CD version to listen to in my car. I have read or listened to the book 5 times already.If you love super heroes you will love the Master Chief and what he does in this book. Get it, you will love it.I really liked this story and I have read it twice and listened to it twice on Audio and I enjoyed it every time!I feel that this story is one of the best military Sci-Fi books ever written. Eric Nylund is in my opinion the best author in the Halo saga series of books.

It was incredibly satisfying knowing what happened to Red team on reach, the unanswered question of how Sargeant Johnson got off Halo, and what happened to Master Chief after Halo. I'd love to see this story eventually become a part of the game series. (343 pls)The story is full of action and suspense, with tense situations and brilliant writing that sets the mood perfectly. I can't recommend this more for anyone who loves the Halo series or sci-fi in general (make sure to read the first two in the series beforehand though)

For some, the Halo Series has been at it's best when written by Eric Nylund. While the Flood certainly wasn't bad, combined with the fact that it was written by a different author with a plot that most of us knew, made it a little boring but nonetheless a more indepth version of Halo.However, Nylund is back and so is his brilliant style of writing and conveying scenes of non-stop acting in First Strike.Those who have loved the series so far will continue to be impressed with the newest novel until the one which will tell the story of Halo 2.First Strike, picks up pretty much right where Halo (The Flood) leaves off with John and Cortana floating in space in the hope of finding survivors. They find survivors and embark on a quest to find Reach and possibly any Spartan's left on it. Without spoiling the book too much, John will have some backup for the upcoming war with the Covenant.Overall, if you haven't read this book you're missing out on a great preview to Halo 2 and a great read for any science fiction fan as well.

I had the pleasure of reading Nylunds' Halo: Fall of Reach novel. It really humanized The Master Chief a video game character I thought awesome to begin with. In First Strike Nylund continues the story of Earths defense forces John 117 aka the Master Chief and his elite unit of Spartans. Every moment of danger, fear, anger and suffering at the hands of the Covenant is magnified. Eric Nylund does a great job of putting you in not only the Master chiefs awesome boots but also the boots of other heroes in the saga.

The Halo universe, games and novels, tells one of the top 5 greatest sci-fi stories of all time, in quality and quantity. This is a must have for TRUE Halo fans, and simply a really good sci-fi novel for those that aren't. This novel and all of the others in the Halo universe are fantasically written and are very easy reads. Each novel tells a truly awesome story and blends the action, drama, and even comedy very well. Kudos to this author and the others that have contributed to this amazing tale. I hope the Halo franchise and universe continue to evolve for a long long time.

First Strike, the third Halo novel, sees the welcome return of Eric Nylund to the Halo franchise. First Strike is a tight, tense narrative that builds to a satisfying conclusion. I'd recommend it to any Halo fan.For those who need convincing, with First Strike Nylund fills in several holes in the Halo timeline. In this book, we learn how the Chief returned to Earth after the destruction of Halo (as well as how Sergeant Johnson managed the same), gain greater insight into the activities of the UNSC High Command - the Office of Naval Intelligence in particular - and we also learn the fate of the rest of the Spartan-II's, who were left behind on Reach before it was glassed to defend the orbital generators.Nylund also does and excellent job of providing a larger window into the interior of Convenant society - including their attitude toward technology and the importance of their language.Most interesting for general science fiction fans will be the chapters narrated by Cortana, giving the reader a look at the ways a AI with beyond-human thinking speed could function.Any, of course, the Master Chief does impossible, dangerous things, and looks good while doing it.

I think this Is my favorite of the three in the series. Fast passed and you can't put it down.

I really like the original Halo books by Eric Nylund, they add so much. I was really happy since I could buy it on kindle and read it on the go, I only wish I bought Halo: The Flood and Halo: Ghosts of Onyx before it got removed from kindle

At a young age, Addams became aware that not all people had the advantages in life that she enjoyed, and she was determined to "find a way to fix the world." Because of the influence of her enlightened father, she went to college at a time when most women didn't. She graduated at the top of her class but was uncertain what to do next. While visiting London with friends, Addams saw poor people begging to buy rotten food at a market. Reminded of her early resolve to help the needy, she visited Toynbee Hall, a London settlement house that proposed that rich and poor live together, "settled in," so they could learn from one another. She returned home with a plan. Chicago in 1889 was home to many immigrants in search of a better life, but language barriers made it difficult to find decent jobs. Stone describes how Addams located a large house in a rough neighborhood and named it Hull House in honor of a benefactor. Addams's efforts transformed neighborhoods and lives, and by 1907 Hull House had grown into 13 community buildings. Author Tanya Stone and illustrator Kathryn Brown deliver a charming and accurate introduction to the productive and inspiring life of Jane Addams. I have researched Jane Hull and the settlement house movement fairly extensively, and this book offers young readers enough information for them to remember this remarkable woman's efforts, but not so much to overwhelm them. On the first page of the book, Stone asks "Why would a wealthy young woman do this (i.e. use her wealth to feed, clothe, and educate poor people while living their neighborhood as well) when she could have lived anywhere?" This question resonated with me since I had asked myself the same question when I first learned about Jane Addams and Hull House in high school. As an educator, this book delights me as I would like to see more emphasis on women and social reform taught in social studies and history courses. In addition, I can see a great benefit to reading the book with one's child as a springboard for discussing the value of community and helping others. Finally, the writing, the woman's biography, the history, and the art are engaging and accessible for primary aged children; I know I would have loved to read about a woman who made a difference in the world when I was a young girl! I also enjoyed the author's note at the end and appreciated that she listed further resources. Regardless of your purpose in reading this book, you'll find there's a reason it has won so many awards! Finally, the muted watercolor illustrations provide a sense of time and place and depict the diversity of people who were served by Hull House in Chicago at the turn of the last century, so even the art informs young readers' historical awareness.

I highly recommend your purchasing this book for children on your shopping list—or simply as a volume to enjoy with children you love. I write this as a lifelong journalist who understands the important innovations this heroic woman brought to American life. Her outreach to marginalized and vulnerable men, women and children was what I hope we can agree is part of the noblest impulses in our American culture.As a journalist, I've also reported on many men and women still working away in needy communities, many of them making remarkable headway and many of them well aware of Jane Addams' early example. Unfortunately, in our popular culture, we've forgotten this amazing woman.As another reviewer has noted, this book is simply a gateway story with relatively concise text, so lots of Jane Addams' life and work is left out. But perhaps after enjoying Jane's story in this beautiful format, readers might be tempted to go on and read her classic, 20 Years at Hull-HouseBravo to the team that created this fun picture book! We need all the Jane Addams memories we can summon.

This is a beautifully written and illustrated book about a very admirable woman. My 9 year old granddaughter and I were both impressed. The main body of the book is mostly concerned with her heart and actions for the poor, but a small section in the back also includes information about her peace activism. I am proud to be named "Jane" when I read this excellent book!

I own both A Code of Jewish Ethics: Volume 1: You Shall Be Holy and The Book of Jewish Values: A Day-by-Day Guide to Ethical Living so I was looking forward to this volume after reading Volume 1.You don't have to be any particular kind of Jew (Orthodox, Conservative, Reconstructionist, Reform...) or even a Jew to appreciate Rabbi Telushkin's wisdom. His wisdom is trans-denominational and often not specific to Judaism. He gives a liturgical basis to his opinions while infusing them with contemporary and personal knowledge.I usually read through his books at least once and then on a regular basis, look at specific chapters or sections to get another (respected) opinion. I do not necessarily agree with everything he writes, but based on how he phrases his commentary and his explanations for his decisions, I respect what he says.This is a book worth owning as part of a personal or family spiritual library.

Jewish Ethics are Christian Ethics. So WELL written! So WELL presented in little bites.

Rabbi Telushkin has an incredible way of presenting information in a clear, concise manner with pertinent examples including many from his own life.

Excellent reading. Helps you be a better person.

Bought the book for our adult study group. I love the topics covered in the book. Easy read. The chapters are short but filled with helpful advise.

Excellent book. The only thing I did not like was that the pages were not trimmed and looked like it was a bargain bin special.
