The book gives a good historical perspective of why we have the Electoral College and what issues it was trying to resolve at the time of our country's founding. It then describes how some of the more controversial presidential elections would have turned out both if they had been decided by popular vote and if the proposed Popular electoral Vote Amendment was implemented. It describes how the amendment would work and why both Democrats and Republicans would want to support such an amendment. It is a good quick read and provides an excellent alternative to the push for direct election by popular vote or for keeping the status quo.

The author presents some very interesting ideas about the voting system and even the way we are represented in this country. I can't say I agree with everything he says but the changes he suggests seem balanced (or my new favorite political word - centrist) and worthy of discussion. Haven lived in both a red and purple state, I know what it is to be ignored and bombarded at election time so I think it would be awesome for something like this to be implemented.Also, this booklet is a quick read (not much legal mumbo jumbo).
