I've been caught up in the ongoing mystery and the characters in the Sam Mason series but I'm disappointed with Book 5. Maybe a bit more editing would help. The dialogue and the characters' thoughts were repetitive and the first name of one of the secondary characters was wrong. The plot had promise and I liked how the officers are meshing as a team. There are still unanswered storylines carrying forward. Still a lot of personal secrets. This series does not really have stand books. Apparently one major plot line is resolved but many more are unresolved. I will buy book 6 but I hope the plotting it tighter. I like this series and want it to grow.

Kind of a "well!" moment at the end. Mostly due to the fact that the mystery is solved - but not really. Our suspect is good for one set of charges but not the other if the clues the author gave us are to be believed. Which means the next book is going to be really good as people backtrack, figure out what they missed, etc. Though I am surprised that neither Sam nor Jo would have tracked on the clues but I guess Sam, even though he tries hard not to be, is a bit blinded by the suspect he wants to nail.The book pulled me into the story from the start and held my interest - such a good entry in this series.

I enjoy reading this series, but I sure hope the author ties up loose ends in the next book and moves on to new mysteries in that little town. 5 books that are just dragging out what actually happened to their dead fellow officer and what the shady developer is actually up to. Now the other officer is unconscious throughout the whole 5th book. While I like knowing all the regular characters in each book. I would like some closure and new adventures. Please?

Unlike many authors, Leighann Dobbs is one of the few writers who have the ability to write multiple series but still have different plot lines. You do not get the feeling that you've read something similar in her other series. The Sam Mason saga has captured my attention from the start and with each book has me wanting more.

Chief of Police Sam Mason needs to put Lucas Thorne away once and for all, so along with his 2nd in command Sergeant Jody Harris work hard to convict Lucas of the drug crimes in the small town of New Hampshire. Will Lucas Thorne’s wife Beryl help Sam and Jody put her husband behind bars? Continuing the store of Kevin Deckard who was shot in book 4, Holden Joyce from the FBI is back and Tyler Richardson who was killed in book 1 all help to bring together a great story.

Sam Mason and Jody Harris are a great team, but they each have secrets in their background. Jody still hasn’t confided hers to Sam, and she is trying to get that accomplished. However, something always interferes just when she’s ready to tell Sam, but the murders need to be solved, and she knows that. This book is a good combination of a murder mystery and character studies. I’m eager to read the next installment, which I hope comes out very soon!

I started reading Lee Dobbs paranormal books, and then segued into a couple of other series because she's a darned good writer. I have to say that her Sam Mason Mysteries are one of my favorites, showing the versatility of this very talented authoress. This book was no exception, and I swear they get better each time. Although the books can be read as stand alone books, I highly advise you to start with book 1 if you are new to this series. You won't be sorry!

About the fifth, and last in this series that I will buy and read. Too much repetition, lots of words with little action or resolution to the story. Everything seems to be set up to have you buy the next book in the series.
